Jewellery Care

Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. This proportion is defined and fixed by law. It is the standard of purity set by the Assay offices in Britain and is used for most silver jewellery throughout the world. Fine silver (99.9%) is generally too soft for producing functional items.

Caring for your Silver

Anti-tarnish silver polish cloth

Sterling silver will tarnish with time and wear. Please take care of your sterling silver jewellery by polishing it frequently with a soft dry cloth to avoid tarnish (do not use silver dip).

We would recommend that you use the specially impregnated anti-tarnish silver polishing cloth available from the checkout here at Georgina Bywater.

We recommend you keep your jewellery stored in the box or pouch provided and that individual pieces are kept separate to avoid scratching.

Please avoid contact with household cleaning products, perfume, hairspray, deodorant and any other chemicals.

Please also remove when showering, swimming or coming into contact with salt water.

Our products are guaranteed against manufacturing faults, but not misuse.
