Hallmarking

All sterling silver items over the legal weight threshold of 7.78 grams must be tested so that they meet the UK legal standard. This cannot be done by the manufacturer therefore they must be submitted to one of the four UK Assay Offices.

To confirm that the product has been tested and conforms to the required legal standards, it will be hallmarked with the sponsor’s mark – in our case, the Georgina Bywater mark (GB).
